               The Department of Mathematics, has a long, distinguished history at the prestigious 'University of Illinois' 
               and is rated in the top 20 mathematics departments in the nation. The Department has one of the largest and 
               most comprehensive mathematics graduate programs in the world and supports a large number of postdoctoral 
               positions, offering training for careers in the mathematical sciences.

               Computer Science at the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign is recognized throughout the world as a 
               leader in both education and research. Students have ready access to a distinguished faculty, excellent 
               facilities, & a campus with enormous diversity & depth, in research interests & capabilities. The campus has
               been a major force in Computer development & research for >40 years+. The Department and its students and  
               alumni, retain a proud sense of their heritage. Although traditionally, strong in hardware, the Computer 
               Science Department is now recognized as a world leader in its software efforts.


               In a recent U.S. News & World Report, Illinois was ranked one of the top 5 Computer Science programs in the 
               country, on the strength of its research, Under-graduate, and Graduate programs. The College of Engineering 
               is also in the top five. The Computer Science Department is one of the largest in the world, with a faculty 
               of 40 & a student body of about 900 undergraduates & 350 graduate students. Because of it size, it is able 
               to offer a depth & breadth of oppurtunities second to none. The campus also supports a world class computing 
               infrastructure with supercomputers, workstations, PC laboratories & networked classrooms & dormitories.


               The Computer Science Dept: is part of College of Electrical Engineering; one of the top five Engineering 
               programs in the world. Scientific research is conducted in world class research centers like National Center 
               for Supercomputing ( NCSA ) and Beckmann Institute for Advanced Science & Technology. Beckmann Institute is 
               devoted to basic research in Medicine & Artificial Intelligence, while NCSA is a scientific research center 
               devoted to Advanced computing & Communication tools & Informational technologies. University of Illinois 
               graduates are some of the the most sought after by the U.S. Industry,. unlike me who has been out of the 
               professional I.T. work-force for more than 2 decades.
