This is the latest BAE System's M777A2 Ultra Light Towed-Howitzer; equivalent of the Bofors FH77B. The M777A2 is manufactured by BAE in the United States now. It is an ULTRA-LIGHT towed howitzer of the same caliber; that can be airdropped for Airborne missions. India wants to buy 200 of these ultra-light howitzers from the United States immediately, for the Army Mountain-Divisions This is the latest BAE System's M777A2 Ultra Light Towed-Howitzer; equivalent of the Bofors FH77B. The FH77B is battle tested in ARCTIC conditions & is best suited for the HIMALAYAS; amongst all artillery guns !! India eventually plans to license manufacture 1600 of these howitzers. Indian Army has already descided to buy the M777A2 155mm 52Caliber, Ultra Light version of this Howitzer, for its mountain divisions ! This 'FH77 B02', field artillery-gun, is the prefered choice of the Army & has already won the tender but due to government bureaucracy, the deal has been stalled.
